The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. So are we expecting different results for 2020?

I was listening to a podcast series by Dr. Phil last month, and he made some powerful points on managing expectations. One of our biggest weaknesses as human beings is the lack of expectation management. It’s as simple as driving a car. Why do we often lose our shit when driving down the road? We have unrealistic expectations on how others should drive. We expect everyone else to think, react, and habitually drive the same way we drive. NOT HAPPENING!!! That would be very poor expectation management. So why do we do it? It’s habit. It’s human nature. This is why we are attracted to others who share the same, or similar views, beliefs systems, and life goals. If we want to have a better life, a happier life, a healthier life, then we must do a better job of managing expectations.

So what are you expecting for 2020?

I’m seeing a lot of posts, bold declarations for the New Year, the New Decade, but where is the LOI? Where is the plan? Before the clock strikes midnight on December 31, 2019, make sure you’ve executed on your intentions in writing, and crafting the plan that aligns with your expectations. The daily actions that are required to produce the results according to our expectations, must be taken. Like a pilot navigating their course, we must make the necessary adjustments along the way in order to hit our target(s). We must be intentional. It’s all about realistic expectations. In our families, our relationships, with our lover, and our businesses. If we want a different result this year, we have to LevelUp, and sign the damn LOI.
